Quantum Hardware Engineer

Delft Networks is a young, full-stack quantum networking company on a mission to connect the world in the quantum age. We are searching for a software engineer who will join a team that is building next-generation quantum networking systems.

Within the scope of our hardware team, roles can be tailored to expertise, spanning topics such as:

  • Development of high-rate entanglement architectures based on chip-integrated colour-centre qubits.

  • Design, development and construction of scalable, deployable hardware. For example:

    • High-throughput and autonomous characterisation systems for qubit devices and integrated photonics.

    • Rack-integrated optical modules for qubit addressing and optical channel stabilisation.

    • Vertically-integrated control architectures for multiplexed entanglement nodes.

  • Modeling and in-loop optimisation of qubit control protocols, devices & hardware.

  • Definition, execution, and analysis of system-level tests and demonstrations.

Candidate profile:

A successful candidate will join a dynamic and growing team at Delft Networks. You should be comfortable both working independently and collaboratively, primarily on-site at our location in Delft.

We welcome candidates with background experience of at least:

  • A PhD in physics; or

  • A master’s degree with two years of relevant work experience.

If you have significantly more experience than this, we would still be very excited to hear from you.

Candidates should also:

  • Be proficient in at least one programming language for hardware control and automation.

  • Have experience operating qubit systems for networking, computing, or sensing applications, e.g. using colour centres, neutral atoms, trapped ions, …; or

  • Bring deep technical expertise in a setting such as optics or photonics.

If this role excites you but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement, please reach out nevertheless. We value diverse perspectives and are excited to meet enthusiastic candidates who are looking to join us on our mission!

What we offer

  • Competitive salary;

  • Equity participation;
